I wanted to share a CMSDC success story with you. You and I have discussed the difficulty that I was having with the financing issues with the Federal contract that we won. Well after much hard work and many nights of lost sleep I wanted to show you the results. The bus that you see in the attached pictures is a state of the art Biodiesel/Electric Hybrid bus that we are running on the campus of the Environmental Protection Agency.
It is the future of transportation in this country. When we bid the contract we had multiple sources that were willing to finance the project. By the time the contract was awarded the national credit markets had tightened and we were left with a contract in hand and no way to perform on it without the proper financing. No one that was willing to finance the vehicle saying that their underwriting guidelines had changed and the technology was too new. As you can imagine this left us between the proverbial rock and a hard place.
It was through the relationships that I’ve forged through CMSDC that helped us to navigate through these troubled waters. Hopefully the vehicle that you see here will be the first of many.
As an organization if we focus our efforts on Commerce, Contracts and Economic Development we will make ourselves invaluable to the communities we serve.
